Black Professionals of Wine: Black Winemakers, Winery Owners, Importers and More

Saturday, June 13th at 12pm CST

Join Lucas and Dhruv, two of our certified sommeliers, as they highlight some of the names, the faces, and stories of amazing black professionals and their wines. We will emphasize the importance of understanding who is behind the bottle and have a conversation about the barriers black people face entering and thriving in the industry. By bringing awareness we hope to bolster black owned businesses and bring greater diversity and selection to the wine world in Austin and beyond.

This week we are pleased to announce that all donations will benefit the Austin Justice Coalition: a racial justice group that educates and builds community power for people of color who live in Austin, Texas. In an effort to make this content as accessible as possible, this class is donate-what-you-can.

New to the Stay-at-Home Somm? This project began in April 2020 as a result of Covid-19 closures. Utilizing a team of Austin’s various certified sommeliers, this group raises funds for hospitality professionals and numerous charity projects across the city through virtual wine classes. We hope you’ll join us in sipping to support our classes for a cause.
